Welcome to the new real live preacher site. I'm on a new server, and the dns will still be propagating for the next day or so. I'm so appreciative of the folks at www.JethroConsultants.com for helping with this migration. The old site was falling apart and beginning to break every few days.
A lot of things at the new site won't be working yet. I don't think the dns has changed in Australia, so the guys at Jethro can't make a lot of the final changes. The entire old site will be archived intact. That's going to mess up any links out there to specific essays, but there's no way to avoid that. And some of the links inside the archive may be broken. But you will definitely be able to get to all of my old writing there.
So for the next week or so, things will be coming online. Thanks for your patience! All of my subscriber's blogs will be listed here somehow, so watch for that.
We lost our user accounts, but I don't know if there is any reason to have them now. All they really allowed you to do was have your name on your comments. Well, you can do that now without registering. I'm checking with Jethro on that question.
I want to thank Tim Miller and the people at Jethro for their fantastic work. These guys have been great to work with. I'll write more about that later!

Nice...
...to have you back.
WELCOME BACK!
You were sorely missed, sir.
lost user accounts
Without user accounts does this mean everyone will be able to see subscriber content?
The previous archives have
The previous archives have been retained intact including user accounts and subscriber content locked to subscribers.
The new site will have its own new subscribers in due course.
User accounts will still be needed for subscribers, What Gordon was referring to was that you no longer need a user account to leave a comment but can still leave your name.
Woo hoo!!!
Great to see things back up, bare-bones as it may be right now. Looking forward to "kicking the tires" so to speak on the new site!

Hey...rlp. Glad to see things may be returning to almost normal for you. Still looking forward to the closing of your D.R. mission...or did I miss it in all of this change?

Looks Good!
Good luck with the new site.
links to archives
RLP,
Don't let the links to your archives be broken! Your Google juice will go down, and lots of people who found your essays through links on other people's sites will not longer be able to do so.
Through the technological miracle of the Apache mod_rewrite http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod/mod_rewrite.html, it is possible (maybe not easy, but possible) for you to put your archives in a new place but have all the old ones links work. I highly recommend you do so, for past, current, and future users.
Thanks,
Geodog
Glad
to have you back rlp. My mornings can go back to normal....

"Salon Bolg" "Drupal" "RSS Feed"
WOW...After leaving a comment a few days ago ("I love it when a plan comes together") I went back to re-read "Real Live Preacher 3.0" and "Web Site Upgrade." I at that moment, relized that..."Salon blog" "Drupal" "Rss feed" "Word processor and Drupal" "Put them to FrontPage" "Drupal as a html file" and "I don't think the (dns) has changed in Australia"...are things that I know nothing about. That being said, I am glad that your plan is coming together. Praise God for Tim Miller and Jethro Consultants. Still looking forward to the new rlp.
