Twitter and Facebook
So, I'm on Twitter now. And Facebook. I didn't do these things for a long time, feeling like my life was complex enough. But I'm playing around with them both. I'm curious about them.

I'd be curious how you

Pistol, Well, the reasons
Submitted by rlp on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 10:21.Pistol,
Well, the reasons are complex. I'm fairly committed to both finding ways to write seriously and NOT trying to get involved in the traditional publishing approach. That means I have to network with readers in new ways. Whatever you think about facebook and twitter, they are marvelous tools for getting the news out. If you need to announce something, you want these social media tools on your side. And you can't just launch them overnight. So I intend to put some work into microblogging over the next year or so as an attempt to, yes, help my ability to network as a writer.

Twitter <=> Facebook
Submitted by evan on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 21:24.Did you know you can funnel your tweets to automatically update your status on facebook? Instructions here.
(I'm not sure if it works in reverse - that is, updating your status on facebook writes back to twitter.)
As for clients, there are plenty to choose from. There is a whole ecosystem of services around twitter. I've only just started twittering myself, and so far just using a firefox addon that lets me tweet from the address bar. (Plus gtweet to let me see my RSS feed in Google Reader.)
I'd be interested to know what you end up using.
I actually did know that.
Submitted by rlp on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 23:18.I actually did know that. I've already set that up. So when I "tweet" it does end up as a facebook status update.

Now you can put faces and personalities on your "virtual congregation" that has untill now been largely annonymous...
facebook
Submitted by Marco Funk (not verified) on Sun, 03/15/2009 - 15:45.I joined facebook about two years ago and enjoy the connectedness I've experienced with people I haven't seen in years. I've had numerous get togethers with friends and peers that I don't think I would have found had it not been for facebook. On the other hand, i've found that facebook users are not careful enough about the kinds of things they allow their friends to see. I think people don't realize just how vulnerable they are making themselves when they post photos of themselves, friends, and people that don't even want their photo on the net.
Social Media
Submitted by letscounthedays (not verified) on Tue, 06/16/2009 - 08:54.It looks like you are doing a good job on keeping up with the social media side of technology. Your website even has the feature to send your post to Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, etc. One thing I would recommend, and I believe this was previously mentioned, is to add a way for users to "tweet" or "retweet" each of your post. I work as a Chicago freelance web designer and I allow all of my blog post to be posted on twitter as well. The response so far has been great, something you may want to look into.
Thanks!
