How Am I Just Figuring This Out?

This happens to me all the time. Everyone else will know about something, but I'll be the last one to figure it out. Sometimes EVEN I will know about it but will procrastinate figuring out how to do it until the thing is old hat and common knowledge.
I just now discovered how to use my RSS feed aggregator so that I can keep up with blogs that I like. How long have I been blogging? Almost two years. You know how ancient that is in this new world? Most blogs last a few months. If your blog has been around a year, you are an old timer. Over two years and you are legendary.
And I'm just figuring this whole RSS thing out? I know, it's pathetic. All along I've known that a person could subscribe to automatic feeds from weblogs, but I just never got around to setting it up. It took me about three minutes.
If there are others out there who haven't discovered this yet, your blog software may come with an aggregator. Open it up. Delete the default crap that's in there, and subscribe to rss feeds for blogs you want to keep up with. How do you subscribe? Look for the rss subscription link on any blog. Click on it. Paste the URL into your aggregator. Hit the subscribe button.
What will happend? When you open your aggregator, new posts from your subscribed blogs will be right there for you to read. I don't know how other aggregators work, but I can even leave comments. So I can easily check up on the folks I know and love, encourage them with comments, never miss anything, and feel like I'm finally participating in the community aspect of blogging.
I feel so damn good about myself! And proud.
Better late than never, I guess. But maybe my ignorance and procrastination will inspire someone else to make this startling discovery!
