I've got a wedding to do this Saturday. For ministers, a wedding means goodbye weekend. Sunday was already gone, why not toss in Friday night and Saturday too?
It's not that bad, really. I don't do weddings for hire, just for folks connected to our community, so it's a rare occurance, and I'm personally invested.
But it does pack out an already bloated weekend schedule.
Friday night - rehearsal and dinner.Saturday morning - breakfast at the church.Saturday evening - wedding.Sunday morning - the usual.Sunday afternoon - prison visit.
The prison visit is going to be tough. I'm visiting a somewhat distant relative who is a convicted sex offender. I'll visit with her for two-and-a-half hours. This will be an excercise in compartmental thinking.
What she did is not my responsibility. Caring for the victim is also the responsibility of others. Mine is to carry the love of Christ into the prison and right into her life.
She feels so badly about herself right now that she may not be able to receive the love of God unless she can receive love from me. So there must be praying. Much praying.
I doubt if you'll hear from me until Monday or maybe even Tuesday. I don't see much room for writing.
