The Wild Bunch: Bloggers of the old West

I have a silly hobby. I like to "photoshop" myself into old pictures. I might post some of my rather odd collection from time to time.

In other news, registered rlp users passed the 500 mark yesterday, which is exciting to me. I've always felt a little disconnected from most of the people who visit Real Live Preacher. I always read the comments, so some of your names are familiar to me. Others have sent email, and we've become friends. But most of you have been nothing but names to me. I suppose I've been nothing but a name to you as well.

Somehow seeing your names online while you're here and getting to talk with you in the chat room from time to time makes it seem real to me. I like it.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm working on two pieces. One for Christian Century and one for here. I'll be in and out all weekend. Watch for me in the chatroom.

Oh, my dad is now a member. If you see "RLPs Dad" in the chatroom, make him feel welcome. He's never chatted online before.

Try messing with the contrast a bit, the darks should be just a shade darker than they are just now, that is, to match the original photo's lighting.

500! Ack! That's great, but has to be scary as well, knowing you must have many more readers than likely will join the cult. Just know this, if you ask me to sell my house and move with you down to some farm land in South America, I'm drawing the line there.

My brother-in-law is a fair to midland mandolin player and every year I photoshop him into some Bluegrass bands for his birthday card.

the first time I logged onto the salon server and saw the number of people who had come to read rlp, I got very frightened. I don't know why, but I felt exposed. I got over that after awhile.

Now I just pretend that you guys are friends and that there's only about fifty of you. It's called denial and it works really well. ;-)

I did the "photoshop" thing back around '92 with a photo of me from some dress-up spirit day at high school. My friend dug up his copy of it last year on my birthday.
