I am a pharmacist that works in both a hospital and an outpatient clinic. I love that this gives me the best of both the hospital and retail pharmacy worlds. The people I see become my patients and, because I see them on a long term basis, we become a part of each others' lives.

Faith is important to me. I admit to being one of the 20-30somethings that have stopped going to church. It was a peculiar thing to no longer have that community. This year (2008), I have recently starting going to church again. Some weeks it takes all my energy not to leave. And yet, at the very same time, this is exactly where I want and need to be. The struggle is with church but not faith -- probably the fact that it is made up of humans and I want something a tad more idealistic. At the same time, this faith/belief system says that one should be a part of a faith community.

I am also a part of a wonderful group (www.cvmcanada.com) that has embraced mission-service as an essential combination. I was able to go with them to The Gambia in 2006 and will be there again in February 2008. It is all about practical service, fostering relationships and genuinely loving people. This really does set one apart and I found many of the Gambians asking 'why are you doing this?' The simplest answer I know is that I am called to serve: whether at home, in my career, volunteering in my home city or around the world. In the end, it's all about you.
